Inertia

2022
Glass aquarium, zinc sculptures’ leftovers, copper sulphate
24 x 16 x16 cm

Following the definition of the word “Inertia” and the statement of the art residency Countdown Grabowsee, I developed a site-specific installation for the final exhibition weekend. In an aquarium I collected some metal leftovers of the sculptures produced during the residency and, in the first hours of the opening, I added copper sulfate that reacted in the following days. The liquid changed colors from a deep blue to a pale green in connection to the progressive corrosion of the metal.
I wanted to observe and show the chemical transformation of the material so like the aesthetically changing meaning of objects.
